David W. Cantrill is presently the Executive Director of the Idaho Judicial Counsel. As such, he has moved to of counsel with Cantrill Skinner. Though, fortunate for the firm, he still works out of our office, and is on hand daily to provide advice and guidance from his wealth of experience. Though he is no longer a managing partner of the firm, he is still central to the firm’s culture and daily dealings.
David W. Cantrill received a B.A. from Idaho State University in 1966 and his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1970. He was admitted to the Idaho State Bar and United States District Court for the District of Idaho in that same year. Later he was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals and then to the Supreme Court of the United States. He is currently a member of the Idaho State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
He practiced in all areas of personal injury, and spent a large portion of his career representing insurance companies. He also practiced in government liability, wrongful death, and medical licensing.
Mr. Cantrill has practiced law for 40 years and has received the highest rating available from his colleagues, a “preeminent AV” rating through Martindale Hubble.
Over the last 40 years Mr. Cantrill has developed a nickname and virtually all of his colleagues and friends refer to him as “Tony.”
